GILES COUNTY, TENNESSEE — A vehicle that bypassed the Giles County scale complex was pulled over by a Tennessee Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Plus Trooper for a Level II inspection — and what the trooper found explains why the driver may not have wanted to stop. The left side of the trailer was completely missing its tire and wheel entirely, and the right side had a blown-out tire.

The vehicle was placed out of service until all necessary repairs were completed.

“This is a powerful reminder that proper vehicle inspections and maintenance are critical, not only for compliance, but for the safety of everyone sharing the road,” THP said. “Check your equipment. Fix safety issues before you hit the road. Safety starts before the trip begins.”

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
