KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI — A school bus caught fire after colliding with a semi-truck on northbound Interstate 435 near Front Street Tuesday morning, leaving two adults on the bus with minor injuries. No children were aboard at the time.
Kansas City Fire Department crews were called around 8 a.m. on October 20. Video from the scene showed the front end of the bus fully engulfed in flames, with traffic backing up behind it. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Two adults on the bus were taken to a hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. The semi driver was evaluated at the scene and released.

Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins did not share a preliminary crash report, so how the collision happened has not been made public. The school district the bus belongs to has not been identified. Crews cleared the scene and turned it over to Kansas City Police and the Missouri Department of Transportation. Northbound I-435 was expected to be affected until the bus could be removed.
