ARKANSAS — The Arkansas Highway Police is running a targeted enforcement operation this week with local, state, and federal agencies, focused on commercial motor vehicle safety and criminal activity along Arkansas highways.

The operation runs from 6 a.m. on October 27 to 6 a.m. on October 29, 2026. AHP said it is part of Operation Highway Shield, an ongoing multi-agency effort targeting unqualified commercial vehicle drivers and criminal activity in the trucking industry.

AHP said officers will be watching for unqualified drivers, unsafe vehicles, fraudulent practices, and criminal activity across the state.

Earlier Results

DHS and the U.S. Department of Transportation announced preliminary results from the second wave of Operation Highway Shield on August 4. In a three-day operation from July 28 to July 30, inspectors from ICE Homeland Security Investigations, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, and state highway patrols conducted roadside checks nationwide. Officers:

  • Detained 51 illegal immigrants, including 21 drivers holding non-domiciled commercial driver licenses issued by California and New York
  • Placed 766 unsafe drivers and vehicles out of service
  • Arrested 86 operators for dangerous behavior, including road rage and domestic violence
  • Issued 36 violations for failing English Language Proficiency tests
  • Recovered nearly $1 million in stolen cargo

“When illegal aliens are behind the wheels of semi-trucks, they are putting American lives in danger,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “DHS and our partners at the Department of Transportation have removed more than 800 dangerous truckers from our roadways.”

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said, “Every life lost from an illegal trucker behind the wheel of a big rig is a completely preventable tragedy. If you continue to illegally operate a big rig, your days on America’s streets are numbered.”

The operation follows a July announcement of a DHS and DOT partnership to investigate fraudulent and illegal practices at CDL schools.
