ALBEMARLE COUNTY, VIRGINIA — A New Jersey woman driving a tractor-trailer has been charged with felony involuntary manslaughter after a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 64 early Tuesday, October 27, that killed a 58-year-old Fishersville woman.

Albemarle County Police, Virginia State Police, and Albemarle County Fire Rescue were dispatched at about 12:51 a.m. to mile marker 109 after reports that a tractor-trailer had struck a vehicle, causing it to collide with a gooseneck trailer traveling in front of it. The vehicle’s driver, Sally Tripp, 58, of Fishersville, was taken to UVA Health in serious condition and later died of her injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver, Nachalie Amaro Burgos, 30, was charged with felony involuntary manslaughter, failure to obey a highway sign, and driving too fast for conditions. She is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Albemarle County Police Department’s Traffic Unit.
