MACKINAC COUNTY, MICHIGAN — A Texas truck driver is facing charges after Michigan State Police stopped him on the Mackinac Bridge and found a staggering collection of illegal weapons, two open containers of alcohol, an active arrest warrant, and evidence he had falsified his electronic logging device records.
At approximately 6:48 p.m. on March 25, 2026, an MSP Motor Carrier Officer on proactive patrol spotted a semi-truck hauling a trailer speeding and operating in a hazardous manner on the Mackinac Bridge. The trooper pulled the truck over. Upon contact, the officer discovered the driver — Eric Koroscik, 54, of Kingwood, Texas — had an active warrant for his arrest. Officers took him into custody without incident.
What came next stunned investigators. Koroscik had no Concealed Pistol License. Officers seized the following from his possession:
• 15 double-edged knives, including three with brass knuckle handles
• Two throwing stars, each with four double-édged sides
• Two additional sets of brass knuckles, including one spiked set
• Five loaded pistols
• One loaded rifle
• One shotgun
• One large double-edged sword with a 32-inch blade
On top of the weapons, officers found two open containers of alcohol in the cab. A subsequent inspection of the commercial vehicle revealed Koroscik had allegedly falsified his ELD records.
On March 26, 2026, Koroscik was arraigned in the 92nd District Court in Mackinac County on one count of carrying a concealed weapon. The court issued him a personal recognizance bond. Additional charges are pending. He faces court again on April 10, 2026.
MSP received assistance from the Mackinac County Sheriff’s Office and the St. Ignace Police Department.
All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
