39-Year-Old Miami Box Truck Driver Killed After Drifting Off I-95 and Striking Parked Semi From Behind Near Jacksonville; Semi Driver Hospitalized With Minor Injuries

JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA — A 39-year-old Miami man was killed early Tuesday morning after the box truck he was driving drifted off the roadway and struck the rear of a tractor-trailer parked in the right emergency lane on northbound Interstate 95 near State Road 9B.

Florida Highway Patrol said the crash occurred around 5:35 a.m. The box truck drifted from the travel lane and hit the back of the parked trailer. The box truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver, a 23-year-old from Petersburg, Virginia, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The right lane remained blocked while FHP investigated the crash.
