LOWNDES COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI — A Mississippi semi-truck driver was arrested at her home by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force after a months-long toxicology investigation confirmed multiple controlled substances in her system at the time she rear-ended a street sweeper in February, killing the operator.

Amanda Carrie Ross, 34, of Noxubee County, was taken into custody without incident and charged with aggravated DUI. She is being held at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center without bond pending her initial court appearance.

The charge stems from a February 18, 2026 crash on Industrial Road in Lowndes County. Ross was driving a white Jones Logistics semi-truck when it struck the rear of a United Rentals street sweeper operated by Leslie Brent Williamson. Williamson was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle where he later died from his injuries.

At the scene, a deputy evaluated Ross and observed signs of impairment. Ross admitted to investigators that she had taken Lortab and was found in possession of the medication. A search warrant was obtained for a blood draw, which was performed at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

On June 30, the Mississippi Forensic Crime Laboratory returned the toxicology results confirming the presence of multiple controlled substances in Ross’s system at the time of the crash. An arrest warrant was issued and assigned to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, which located Ross at her Noxubee County home and arrested her without incident.
