Two People Injured After Juvenile Driver Fails to See Oncoming Semi and Pulls Into Its Path; Semi-Truck Jackknifes

KERN COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash involving a semi-truck and a Toyota Camry on McCombs Avenue near Wasco, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on Aug. 19, 2026, at about 12:20 p.m. on McCombs Avenue, east of Highway 43.

Camry Pulled Into Path of Semi, CHP Says

CHP said the crash involved a semi-truck and a red Toyota Camry.

According to investigators, the Camry was driven by a juvenile from Delano who was making a left turn onto McCombs Avenue.

CHP said the juvenile driver did not see the semi-truck traveling eastbound and pulled out in front of it.

The semi-truck was reported to have jackknifed after the crash.

Two People Injured

CHP said there were two occupants inside the red Toyota.

Their injuries were described as moderate to major.

The driver of the semi-truck was not hurt.

Investigators said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.

No additional details about the injured occupants or whether any citations were issued were immediately released.
