PENSACOLA, FLORIDA — Jonathan Crenshaw was in a good mood on August 12. He was getting off work early, heading back to drop off his truck for Goldring Gulf Distributing, and listening to music on the northbound I-110 ramp when everything changed in seconds.

“I was excited about getting off work early. I was going to drop the truck off,” Crenshaw said. “I was listening to music, then I started fishtailing.”

He tried to counter-steer and bring the truck back under control, but the wet road had other plans. “There was too much water on the road,” he said. The semi-trailer crossed the concrete barrier near Jordan and Hayne streets and plunged to the ground below.

“Next thing you know I’m seeing everything spin and spin; boom. I open my eyes, and I just climbed out.”

Crenshaw climbed out of the wreckage without a scratch. A bystander named Tiyana Bradley watched it happen from nearby and said the sound alone stopped her cold.

“I thought he was dead,” Bradley said. “But when I walked over here, he had nary scratch on him. He had his seatbelt on. He crawled out of it, and he don’t have nary scratch. God is good. He’s going to be sore, but he’s blessed by the best.”

Crenshaw agrees.

“I’m truly blessed. I’m so glad to be able to walk, talk, move my limbs. It’s impossible. I’m shocked that it even happened, but I’m here.”

Pensacola Police, Pensacola Fire Rescue, and Florida Highway Patrol all responded to the scene. FHP is handling the crash investigation as the incident occurred on the interstate. The Florida Department of Transportation was also notified of damage to the overpass from the impact.
