UTAH/WYOMING BORDER — Troopers from the Wyoming Highway Patrol and Utah Highway Patrol joined forces with USDOT agents on April 29, 2026, for a four-hour commercial vehicle enforcement detail on I-80 at the Utah/Wyoming border, uncovering 153 violations across 34 inspections including a cracked frame on a trailer loaded with construction supplies.

The operation targeted commercial vehicle safety violations and specifically focused on trucks bypassing the Evanston and Echo Ports of Entry. The detail produced the following results:

• 34 CMV Inspections Conducted
• 153 Total Violations Found
• 15 Vehicles Placed Out of Service
• 10 Drivers Placed Out of Service

Among the most serious finds, one inspector discovered a cracked frame on a trailer that was actively hauling construction supplies — a critical structural defect that posed significant safety risks.

“We have great appreciation for the assistance given by our allied agencies in keeping Interstate 80 safe for all travelers,” Wyoming Highway Patrol said.
