Worker Repairing Disabled Rig on I-5 Shoulder Killed After Another Truck Swerves and Strikes Both Them and the Semi

ACAMPO, CALIFORNIA — A person was killed Tuesday morning on northbound Interstate 5 north of Peltier Road after a semi-truck swerved and struck both the individual and a disabled big rig that was pulled over on the shoulder.

According to the California Highway Patrol Stockton office, the person was outside the disabled semi-truck working on it along the shoulder when another semi-truck swerved for reasons still under investigation and struck both the person and the disabled rig. The person was pronounced dead at the scene. Their identity has not been released.

The number two lane on northbound I-5 north of Peltier Road remained closed Tuesday morning while officers conducted their on-scene investigation. Drivers were advised to expect delays in the area. All details are preliminary and subject to change as the investigation continues.
