LOUISA, KENTUCKY — A gas station maintenance worker is dead after a semi-truck pulling away from a diesel pump struck him in the early morning hours of October 12 in Louisa — and security footage revealed the worker was kneeling in front of the truck at the time, making it likely the driver had no idea he had hit anyone. The truck driver returned to the scene immediately after police identified him through surveillance video. No charges have been filed.

The incident occurred at a gas station on US Highway 23 before 5:50 a.m. The maintenance worker had been outside in the rain checking diesel containers when the semi-truck finished fueling and pulled away. A gas station employee found the body around 5:50 a.m. and contacted authorities. A short time later, a customer also discovered the body and called 911.

Louisa Police Chief Steven Wilburn said investigators reviewed security footage from the parking lot and determined the worker was kneeling in front of the truck at the time of impact — a position that would have made him difficult or impossible for the driver to see. The footage also allowed police to identify the trucking company. They contacted the driver, who returned to the scene immediately.

The victim has been identified as Glenn Price, 79, of Louisa. No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
