COBB COUNTY, GEORGIA — A tractor-trailer fire on southbound Interstate 285 just before Cobb Parkway near The Battery shut down all lanes Saturday afternoon after gas leaking from the truck ignited and temporarily spread flames across the highway.

Georgia DOT said the fire started just after 2 p.m. A GDOT camera captured the massive blaze as a heavy emergency response converged on the scene. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire and worked to remove what remained of the burned truck. Traffic was diverted to Cobb Parkway during the closure. All lanes reopened by approximately 7:30 p.m.

Details on the cause of the fire and whether anyone was injured were not immediately available.
