EL PASO, TEXAS — A 43-year-old man was killed Monday morning after police said he tried to climb onto the ladder of a moving semi-truck in south-central El Paso and fell into the path of the truck.
The incident happened around 7:31 a.m. on Sept. 14 in the 1200 block of Myrtle Avenue, near Noble Street.
Man Tried to Climb Moving Semi, Police Say
According to the El Paso Police Department, a semi-truck was traveling westbound on Myrtle Avenue when Samuel Guzman attempted to climb onto the ladder of the moving truck.
Police said Guzman fell from the ladder and was run over by the semi-truck.
He died from the injuries he sustained.
Incident Remains Under Investigation
Investigators said it is not yet known why Guzman tried to climb onto the moving truck.
The El Paso Police Department’s Special Traffic Investigations unit is handling the case.
The incident marked El Paso’s 43rd traffic fatality of the year, compared to 42 at the same time last year.
No additional details about the truck driver were immediately released.
