LINDEN, NEW JERSEY — A Beacon Scrap Iron and Metal tractor-trailer snarled morning traffic on Route 1 & 9 northbound in Linden after its trailer buckled and appeared to collapse in the middle while traveling near Westbrook Drive.

The incident occurred near the entrance to Rosedale Cemetery, just north of the Home Depot shopping center. The truck was carrying scrap metal including copper. Crews from Beacon Scrap Iron and Metal responded to the scene and used a forklift to remove large reels and boxes of copper from the damaged trailer and transfer them into another truck.

Traffic was reduced to one lane northbound during the offloading operation. The truck was able to drive off the roadway shortly after 6 a.m. and the scene was cleared. No injuries were reported. The cause of the trailer buckling was not immediately determined.
