EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, PENNSYLVANIA — Multiple people were injured Saturday afternoon, October 24, after a tractor-trailer caused two other vehicles to collide on Lincoln Highway East. One car was thrown into a nearby field and the other caught fire and was completely destroyed. The tractor-trailer did not stop, and officials flagged the driver down in Paradise Township.
Ronks Fire Company’s Station 48 was called out around 2:48 p.m. for a vehicle accident with fire and entrapment. Squad 48 put out the car fire, and Rescue 48 checked the other vehicle for entrapment and for runoff and debris from the fire. Fire crews had to free multiple people from the car that landed in the field. Utility 1 diverted traffic onto North and South Cherry Lane, and Stations 41, 62, and 63 helped shut down intersections and manage the heavy traffic.

Multiple people were taken to the hospital. Fire crews said the victims received only minor, non-life-threatening injuries, but it isn’t clear how many people were hurt.
Lincoln Highway East was closed from South Cherry Lane to Ronks Road and has since reopened. East Lampeter Township police are investigating. It has not been released whether the truck driver was charged.
