HUDSON, IOWA — A Hudson police officer stopped a semi trailer with dangerously overheated brake drums after a passing motorist reported a traffic concern, and the trailer’s air bag suspensions failed during the traffic stop, according to the Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit.
The officer responded to the motorist’s report and found the semi trailer’s brake drums severely overheated. No vehicle fire occurred.
“This incident highlights the dangers of brake malfunctions,” troopers said. “Fortunately, no fire occurred as a result. Thank you to the Hudson Police Department for getting this vehicle stopped!”
The post did not say when the stop took place, whether the driver was cited, or whether the truck was placed out of service.
