Iowa Troopers Find Knotted Tie-Downs and Missing Load Securement on Commercial Vehicles; Warn It’s Especially Dangerous When Hauling Hazmat

IOWA — Iowa State Patrol Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit troopers are calling on drivers to take load securement seriously after finding violations during recent inspections including knotted tie-downs and in some cases no load securement at all — a problem that becomes especially dangerous when hazardous materials are being transported.

ISP shared photos of the violations on September 4 as a reminder to the trucking community.

“Knotted tie-downs are not acceptable, but even more concerning is the absence of load securement, especially when transporting hazardous materials. Please ensure your loads are properly secured,” ISP said.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
