OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA — A dump truck speeding on a restricted stretch of Interstate 580 in Oakland got pulled over by CHP Golden Gate Division and ended up with a laundry list of violations — overweight, unregistered, uninsured, and operating without proper authority, on top of being on a road it had no business being on.
The section of I-580 between Grand Avenue in Oakland and Foothill Boulevard in San Leandro is restricted to trucks over 9,000 pounds. The dump truck was both over that weight limit and speeding on the restricted route when troopers made the stop.
“These violations create a safety risk for everyone on the roadway. We remind all commercial operators: know your route, know the requirements, and stay compliant,” CHP said.
