CARROLL COUNTY, VIRGINIA — A passenger car struck an Amazon tractor-trailer on southbound Interstate 77 in Carroll County Sunday evening and became lodged underneath the trailer, with the vehicle’s sole occupant already out of the car by the time first responders arrived. No injuries were reported.
Hillsville Fire Department and Carroll County Fire and Rescue responded at 5:53 p.m. on August 9 to the 16.5-mile marker on southbound I-77. Crews found the car wedged under the trailer. Squad 1 and Engine 4 checked for hazards and assisted a tow company with freeing the vehicle from the trailer. Virginia State Police is investigating the crash.
