SAN ANDREAS, CALIFORNIA — A suspect stole a fully loaded semi-truck in the San Andreas area on September 21, crashed it into a guardrail near the 13 Curves on Highway 49, nearly struck a residence while fleeing down a dirt road, then abandoned the disabled rig, stole a second vehicle, and led CHP on a pursuit before being arrested.
CHP San Andreas said the theft occurred around 9:10 a.m. After hitting the guardrail, the suspect drove the big rig down a dirt road where it nearly struck a house before becoming disabled. The suspect fled on foot, stole another vehicle, and led CHP Amador County units on a short chase before being taken into custody.
Witness statements from the community were credited with linking the two incidents together. CHP Amador County and the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
The identity of the suspect was not released.
