LOGAN, UTAH — A man was critically injured early on a recent morning after his pickup hit a cow on US 89/91 in Logan and was then struck broadside by a UPS semi-truck as it sat disabled in the dark roadway.

Logan Police said the crash began around 2:30 a.m., when the man was driving a Dodge pickup northbound near 2600 South and hit a cow standing in the highway. The cow was killed, and the driver had minor injuries. His truck was disabled in the road. Because the roadway was dark, a UPS semi-truck then hit the pickup broadside and pushed it into a ditch.

The pickup driver had to be extricated. He was taken to a Logan hospital in critical condition and then flown by air ambulance to another hospital for treatment. US 89/91 was closed for about four hours and has since reopened.

The report did not give a calendar date, so I left one out. It also did not say whether the UPS driver was hurt or whether any charges are expected. I left out the Sandy City Police crash-safety tips, since that department was not involved in this crash. I can add them as a short sidebar if you want.
