CHANDLER, ARIZONA — A commercial vehicle traveling on AZ-202 near McClintock Drive in the Chandler area was throwing a large number of sparks from a blown tire on September 18 — and the driver had no idea. When AZDPS Highway Patrol Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit troopers stopped the truck and inspected it, they found several tires in what they described as horrifically unsafe conditions, either completely bald or worn down to shredded interior components. The driver also had no valid CDL.
Both the driver and the vehicle were placed out of service.
“Notice to all drivers of any vehicle — CHECK YOUR TIRES. Bald tires can cause blowouts which can lead to more damage and collisions. Make sure your tires have enough tread and help keep yourself — and everyone else on the road — safe,” AZDPS said.
