DAGGETT COUNTY, UTAH — A semi-truck driver was airlifted to the hospital after his truck went off State Route 44, slid through a guardrail, and traveled hundreds of feet down a steep embankment in Daggett County, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 2.
Semi Went Off Road While Hauling Water
UHP said the driver was hauling water on State Route 44 when the semi went off the left side of the roadway.
The truck rolled, slid through a guardrail, and went down a steep embankment.
Officials said the semi traveled about 300 feet before coming to rest.
Driver Airlifted to Hospital
The driver was the only person inside the semi-truck.
He was transported to the hospital by medical helicopter.
Authorities have not released his condition.
Road Temporarily Closed
A section of State Route 44 was temporarily closed while emergency crews responded to the scene.
The road has since reopened.
Officials have not released additional details about what caused the semi to leave the roadway.
