DONNER PASS, CALIFORNIA — CHP Donner Pass Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility inspectors shared a photo of a badly deteriorated brake chamber this week as a reminder to drivers and carriers to stay on top of brake system maintenance before a small problem becomes a dangerous one.
The facility urged drivers to keep an eye on brake components and take action when they hear air escaping from the braking system — a sound that should never be ignored on a commercial vehicle.
“Please make sure you are keeping an eye on parts like this and making sure you’re performing maintenance when you hear air coming out of your braking system. Stay safe out there,” CHP said.
