TENNESSEE — A Tennessee Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Plus East Region Trooper placed a trailer out of service after a Level I inspection uncovered five serious safety defects on March 23, 2026.
The inspection revealed the following violations:
• Deflated air suspension on the trailer
• Audible air leak at the glad hand connection fitting
• Audible air leak on axle 2 driver side brake chamber
• Air reservoir separated from its mounting point
• Leaking differential
THP pulled the trailer from service immediately. The severity of the defects and the risk they posed to the public left no other option. The trailer must stay out of service until all defects are properly repaired.
“Routine inspections like this help prevent potential crashes and mechanical failures, keeping Tennessee’s roadways safe for everyone,” THP said. “Great work by our MC+ East Region Trooper for staying vigilant and committed to commercial vehicle safety.”
