JENNINGS COUNTY, INDIANA — Torrential rain caused severe flooding in eastern Indiana this week, leaving a semi-truck partially submerged and nearly on its side in floodwaters along US Highway 50.
The flooding happened on Wednesday, Aug. 12, after storms moved through the region and caused widespread road impacts.
Semi-Truck Left Partially Submerged
Footage from the scene showed the semi-truck stuck in deep floodwater as other vehicles, including big rigs and passenger cars, continued through the area.
The truck appeared to be leaning heavily in the water after being overtaken by the flooding.
Reports said the crash and flooding forced the closure of US Highway 50 in Jennings County.
School Bus Seen Driving Through Floodwaters
Video from the area also showed a school bus moving through flooded streets as storms continued to create dangerous travel conditions.
Other drivers were seen attempting to navigate the water while trying to avoid becoming stuck.
Officials reported multiple water rescues in the region as the flooding worsened.

The flooding came after heavy rain from storms hit eastern Indiana, leaving behind road closures, high water, and damage in several areas.
No injuries connected to the semi-truck were immediately reported.
Drivers were urged to avoid flooded roads and never attempt to drive through high water, especially when the depth or roadway condition is unknown.
