FLEMINGTON BOROUGH, NEW JERSEY — A tractor-trailer hauling containers of diesel exhaust fluid overturned Thursday afternoon in a Hunterdon County traffic circle, prompting a hazmat response, according to police.
The crash happened at about 2:13 p.m. on Aug. 13 in the Route 202/31 traffic circle in Flemington Borough.
Truck Overturned Inside Traffic Circle
Police said the 53-foot tractor-trailer was carrying 11 containers of diesel exhaust fluid.
Each container held about 330 gallons.
According to police, the truck was traveling through the traffic circle in the inside lane when it overturned onto its passenger side between State Route 12 and southbound Route 202/31.
Containers Leaked, Hazmat Team Responded
Police said the containers were not breached, but they were leaking.
The Hunterdon County Hazmat Team responded to the scene because of the leaking diesel exhaust fluid.
No injuries were reported.
Scene Cleared After Truck Was Uprighted
Emergency crews worked to upright the tractor-trailer and clear the scene.
Police said all emergency units cleared the area by about 5:52 p.m.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
