FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA — A driver operating an oversized commercial vehicle on Interstate 40 in Flagstaff was arrested for DUI on August 13 after striking multiple traffic barricades and being found with a BAC of .124 and open containers of alcohol inside the cab.

AZDPS Highway Patrol troopers responded to a report of an oversized vehicle striking barricades on I-40 and located the driver nearby. He showed clear signs of impairment. A preliminary breath test returned a BAC of .124. Open containers were found in the cab. A commercial vehicle inspection was completed and the driver was placed out of service for 24 hours in addition to his arrest.

“An oversized vehicle in the hands of an impaired driver becomes a deadly weapon due to its size, weight, and destructive potential,” AZDPS said.
