ALLAMUCHY TOWNSHIP, NEW JERSEY — A five-vehicle crash on eastbound Interstate 80 at mile marker 22.2 in Warren County early Monday morning — involving three semi-trucks, one of which rolled over, and two passenger vehicles — was the eighth crash the Allamuchy Fire Department responded to on the highway in a single 24-hour period.

The department was dispatched at 12:26 a.m. on October 12. Heavy Rescue 91-75, Engine 91-61, Rescue 91-74, and Assistant Chief 91 arrived to find one overturned tractor-trailer with two other semis involved and two damaged passenger vehicles. Allamuchy-Green First Aid Squad EMS transported multiple patients to hospitals. A minor fluid leak was mitigated on scene. Two lanes were closed for most of the morning while crews cleaned up the rolled trailer and its contents and replaced the guardrail.

Earlier Sunday the department also responded to a separate crash on westbound I-80 near mile marker 21 involving two tractor-trailers and a car. Left lanes were shut down that afternoon for cleanup and guardrail repairs.

The department issued a pointed warning to drivers after what it described as an exhausting stretch. “This is the 8th accident on the highway we have responded to in the last 24 hours — please drive with caution in the area! SLOW DOWN and use caution on the very wet roadways today!” The department also called out drivers riding the shoulder. “The shoulder is for disabled or emergency vehicles ONLY — please be respectful and don’t cause unnecessary delays for first responders.”
