MORGAN COUNTY, MISSOURI — A dump truck driver was killed Thursday morning after his truck traveled off the roadway and struck a tree in Morgan County, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash happened on Sept. 3, 2026, at approximately 10:56 a.m. on Missouri Highway 135, about 564 feet south of Spirit Lane.
Dump Truck Left Roadway
According to the crash report, the driver was operating a 2022 International HV507 southbound when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree.
The driver was identified in the report as a 66-year-old man from Sunrise Beach, Missouri.
He was the only person listed in the crash report.
Driver Pronounced Dead at Scene
The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene at 11:26 a.m. by Morgan County Coroner Jim Towles.
The truck sustained total damage and was towed by Garber Diesel.
MSHP Troop F said this was its first fatality for September and its 43rd fatality of the year.
Crash Remains Under Investigation
Troopers said they responded to the one-vehicle crash on MO 135 south of Spirit Lane.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted by Cpl. C.R. Mistler.
No additional details about what caused the dump truck to leave the roadway were immediately released.
