DOVER, NORTH CAROLINA — Four volunteer fire departments responded to an unusual call Thursday after a tractor-trailer carrying more than 400 pigs broke down along Dover Fort Barnwell Road near Kansas Road in Craven County, with firefighters turning their hoses on the trailer to keep the animals cool in the heat.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded alongside the Dover, Fort Barnwell, and Cove City volunteer fire departments. How long the truck was disabled and when the pigs continued their journey was not immediately released.
