PINAL COUNTY, ARIZONA — Arizona commercial vehicle troopers found that nearly one in four trucks weighed during a one-day enforcement detail on U.S. 60 in Pinal County were overweight, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The operation took place on July 27, 2026, as part of a partnership between AZDPS Highway Patrol troopers with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit and the Arizona Department of Transportation Enforcement and Compliance Division.
113 Vehicles Weighed During Detail
AZDPS said officers weighed 113 commercial vehicles during the US-60 enforcement operation.
Of those, 26 vehicles were found to be overweight, meaning about 23% of the trucks weighed during the detail exceeded legal weight limits.
Inspections Found 64 Violations
The joint operation resulted in 35 total inspections and 64 total violations.
Troopers placed three drivers out of service and nine vehicles out of service.
Officials also issued six citations during the enforcement detail.
AZDPS Credits Partnership With ADOT
AZDPS said the operation was aimed at improving commercial vehicle safety through roadside inspections and enforcement.
“Strong partnerships keep our roads safer—one inspection at a time,” AZDPS said.
