DECATUR, GEORGIA — A train collided with a tractor-trailer at a railroad crossing on West College Avenue near Agnes Scott College in Decatur on Thursday, November 5, spilling cargo from the truck and disrupting traffic.

Video from the scene appeared to show a CSX train and a tractor-trailer, with cargo scattered on the ground near the tracks. Police officers directed drivers through the area as crews responded. The extent of the road closures was not immediately clear.

A witness described what he saw. Treshaun Roberts told Storyful he was stopped at a red light when he heard the train blasting its horn but initially did not think anything of it. “I started recording when I noticed the truck was revving its engine really loudly, but it wasn’t moving,” he said. “The truck then began to smoke a little before the driver got out to run to safety.”

Authorities have not released information about injuries or what led to the collision. It is also unclear what the tractor-trailer was carrying or whether the train was damaged. The crash remains under investigation.
