KANSAS CITY, KANSAS — A tractor-trailer hauling lighters and other safety equipment caught fire on the off-ramp from southbound Interstate 35 to 7th Street Trafficway in Kansas City, Kansas, early Friday morning, prompting a response that closed the ramp for hours.
Kansas Highway Patrol said first responders were called just before 7 a.m. The driver was able to pull the tractor away from the trailer before the fire spread. No injuries were reported. Crews worked throughout the morning to extinguish the blaze and reopen the ramp.
