SOLOMONS, MARYLAND — The driver of a tractor-trailer that struck a large section of fencing on the Thomas Johnson Bridge in Solomons on August 25, damaging a school bus and multiple other vehicles, has been identified and located, the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office announced.

The sheriff’s office had asked for the public’s help in identifying the driver after the tractor-trailer — which appeared to be hauling a large piece of equipment — struck fencing mounted atop the concrete barrier on the bridge, sending debris into numerous vehicles including a school bus. The driver had left the scene without being identified.

Tips from the public allowed investigators to locate the driver quickly. The sheriff’s office thanked the community for their assistance.

No further details about the driver or potential charges have been released.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
