BRIDGEVIEW, ILLINOIS — A semi-truck and a work van collided at 71st Street and Harlem Avenue in Bridgeview shortly after 4 a.m. Wednesday, leaving seven people injured including two in critical condition and trapping multiple occupants inside the overturned van.
Police and first responders arrived to find the work van on its side with heavy damage and several people trapped inside. The Bedford Park Fire Department assisted with extrication. The semi-truck driver was among the seven people injured. All were transported to local hospitals. The conditions of those beyond the two critical patients were not immediately released.
The intersection was closed for several hours during the investigation before reopening around 9:30 a.m.
