ASHLAND COUNTY, OHIO — Body camera footage released by the Ohio State Highway Patrol shows parts of an OVI arrest on Interstate 71 after a concerned citizen called in reports of a tractor-trailer operating dangerously.

An OSHP sergeant from the Ashland Post responded to the call on April 16 and stopped the commercial vehicle on the shoulder of I-71. Upon approaching the truck, the trooper noticed the trailer door was not properly closed and detected the smell of alcohol on the driver’s breath and inside the cab.

“How do you drive a truck down the road and you don’t close the door? You don’t come back and check it?” the trooper asked the driver during the stop.

The truck driver was subsequently arrested for Operating a Vehicle Impaired.

OSHP reminded the public that if they observe dangerous or impaired driving on Ohio roads, they should safely call troopers at #677.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
