FULTONVILLE, NEW YORK — A 23-year-old Bath, New York truck driver has been charged with felony assault after investigators say he struck a 25-year-old woman with his tractor-trailer as he pulled out of a parking space at a Pilot truck stop, pinning her between his moving truck and a parked semi, then fled the scene. The woman was a passenger in his truck and investigators determined she was a victim of domestic violence.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 6:49 p.m. on September 12 reporting a female entrapped between two tractor-trailers at the Pilot Truck Stop at 164 Riverside Drive in Fultonville. Law enforcement, fire, and EMS responded immediately. Upon arrival the woman was no longer trapped. She was treated at the scene and transported to Albany Medical Center for her injuries.
Investigators determined the suspect vehicle was a Western Express tractor-trailer operated by Kyle M. Koehler. The truck had left the parking space, struck the woman, and pinned her against another parked tractor-trailer in the lot before fleeing. Later that evening Koehler was located in the Fultonville area and detained.
On September 13 Koehler was arraigned in Town of Mohawk Court and remanded to Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Glen Court at a later date.
Koehler faces three charges — Assault 2nd degree, a D felony; Reckless Endangerment 1st degree, a D felony; and Leaving the Scene of an Incident without Report involving Personal Injury, a B misdemeanor.
Montgomery County EMS, the Town of Glen Volunteer Fire Department, the Fultonville Volunteer Fire Department, and the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office all assisted.
