Semi-Truck Driver Cited After Making Improper Turn in Downtown Greenville, Knocking Down Power Lines and Damaging Streetlights

0

GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA — A semi-truck crash in downtown Greenville knocked down power lines and damaged streetlights Thursday evening, shutting down roads near North Church Street and East Washington Street and drawing a large response less than a block from several popular businesses.

Improper Turn in Downtown Greenville

Greenville Police Department officers responded to the scene before 6:20 p.m. The driver was cited for improper turn and blocking the roadway. No injuries were reported. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes while crews worked to clear the scene.

Witnesses nearby at Fire Forge described hearing a loud crash. “One huge loud bang and shaking of the lights when I looked over there,” one witness said. “When we looked over, we saw a crooked street sign and the top of a semi kind of tilted sideways.” A man who had just arrived in Greenville with his fiancée ahead of their Friday wedding described the sound as “like one of these large roller doors coming down. There hasn’t been anything quite like this.”

The investigation remains ongoing.

Pickup Truck Drives Over Lamborghini in Florida Parking Lot — Owner Escapes Uninjured Just in Time, Axle Catching on Windshield Pillar Saved His Life

0

ORLANDO, FLORIDA — A Lamborghini owner escaped without a scratch Wednesday afternoon after a pickup truck drove over his car while he was still inside it in a Lake Nona parking lot, with only a lucky structural detail preventing the situation from turning fatal.

Ramon Ferrer said he was looking for a parking space outside his gym on Narcoossee Road when he spotted a pickup truck coming around a corner at speed. He stopped and began reversing, but the truck never slowed. “She’s going kind of fast, so I’m literally stopping. I’m reversing,” Ferrer said. “I guess she never saw me, and so she just ran through me.”

With the truck’s tire right in front of his face, Ferrer jumped out of the car just in time. “I jumped out of the car because I saw the wheel kept on spinning. So I’m like, she still wants to go,” he said.

What saved him from being crushed completely was the truck’s axle catching on the Lamborghini’s windshield pillar. “The only thing that actually saved me was God, of course, 100%, but another thing was her axle got stuck on my pillar on the windshield,” Ferrer said. “If not, she would have just wrecked me over completely. It would have been a nightmare. I wouldn’t be here right now, which is kind of crazy.”

Cellphone video of the aftermath spread rapidly on social media, showing the pickup truck sitting on top of the crushed Lamborghini. The incident drew a large crowd of onlookers. “There were so many people there. They just went there to see the whole thing. They were taking pictures, videos, and it was kind of crazy,” Ferrer said.

Ferrer had owned the Lamborghini for only five months before the crash. “I was able to buy the car, and that was a great, great feeling, and this happens five months later,” he said. The car has been taken to a body shop to assess the damage. Ferrer said he still cannot comprehend how the driver missed his car. “I don’t know how you can miss a whole car. I mean, yes, I’m slammed to the ground because it’s a Lamborghini, but I mean, still, how can you miss a car?”

It is unclear whether the pickup truck driver was cited. Orlando Police directed media inquiries to a public records request.

0

TAMPA, FLORIDA — The FBI’s Tampa Field Office is asking for the public’s help locating a missing CDL truck driver who may have been the victim of a hijacking after he disappeared on April 17 while transporting vehicles from Georgia to Miami. Several vehicles from his load are also missing.

Alejandro Jacomino Gonzalez, 41, picked up multiple vehicles from the Port of Brunswick in Georgia on April 16, 2026, and departed southbound toward Miami. Wyoming Sheriff’s ‘Truck Around and Find Out’ Program Has Caught Nearly 120 Illegal Truck Drivers in Five Months; 46 in Latest Three-Day Sweep Including Driver Revoked 13 Times

0

CHEYENNE, WYOMING — The Laramie County Sheriff’s Office has caught and turned over nearly 120 commercial truck drivers to federal authorities in the five months since launching its “Truck Around and Find Out” enforcement program, including 46 during its latest three-day operation last week.

The latest operation, titled Truck Around and Find Out: Spring Storm, was conducted in cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement and resulted in at least 200 total stops targeting both unsafe commercial drivers and passenger vehicle drivers. The 46 illegal drivers caught last week bring the program’s running total to nearly 120 since November, following 40 in the first operation titled Operation Safe Haul and 32 in a late February effort.

Notable Stops From the Latest Operation

Sheriff Brian Kozak highlighted one particularly striking stop from last week. “One significant stop was a driver who had been revoked out of Colorado 13 different times. He was still driving, and an illegal immigrant — and his company was also revoked,” Kozak said.

In another case, deputies responded to a local business that reported an unwanted semi-trailer parked across five spaces directly in front of a no-truck-parking sign. The driver was found sleeping inside. “He was sleeping, and also not authorized to drive a commercial truck and illegal. He ended up going to our jail,” Kozak said.

The Program’s Philosophy

Kozak said the program is not exclusively focused on immigration enforcement or commercial drivers. “We like to say anyone who’s driving unsafe around trucks or truck drivers who are unsafe. We’re looking out for the legal truck drivers who are doing it right. We don’t want to just target truck drivers, we want to target unsafe drivers,” he said.

A Growing Reputation

The program has drawn national attention and overwhelmingly positive feedback, Kozak said. Legal truck drivers passing through ports of entry have offered nothing but compliments. The enforcement effort has given Laramie County a reputation among unsafe and illegal drivers as a place to avoid.

“We do have that reputation. We’ve heard feedback from some of the truck drivers we did arrest saying they knew they were taking a risk coming through Laramie County,” Kozak said. He added that Colorado law enforcement has reported that Highway 287 between Laramie and Colorado is being used by some drivers to avoid I-25 and Highway 85, which run through his jurisdiction.

Legitimate trucking companies have also expressed support. “We hear feedback from the trucking companies who are doing it the right way, because it increases their business because the illegal companies can’t operate,” Kozak said.

Towing companies have also benefited. When a driver is taken off the road, the company is called to retrieve the truck. If the company cannot or will not respond, or if the driver is the owner, the truck is towed and impounded. The owner must pay impound fees before reclaiming it. “That’s a business that’s very happy with what we’re doing — the towing companies,” Kozak said.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Texas Truck Driver Arrested for Smuggling Four Hondurans Hidden in Produce Trailer — 21 Pallets of Lemons, Limes, and Vegetables Donated to Food Bank After Recipient Abandons Cargo

0

VICTORIA COUNTY, TEXAS — A U.S. citizen truck driver was arrested on federal smuggling charges after Victoria County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Crossroads HIDTA Task Force members stopped his tractor-trailer on U.S. Highway 77 and found four undocumented Honduran immigrants concealed inside.

The traffic stop occurred on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. During the stop, investigators determined the driver was attempting to smuggle the four individuals. U.S. Border Patrol and Homeland Security were contacted to assist with the detention of the immigrants and the federal prosecution of the driver. The tractor, trailer, and produce cargo were transported to the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office pending seizure proceedings.

The trailer was loaded with 21 pallets of assorted produce, including lemons, limes, squash, zucchini, bell peppers, cucumbers, eggplants, jalapeño peppers, and long green peppers. The intended recipient subsequently abandoned the cargo. The Victoria County Sheriff’s Office coordinated with the Victoria Office of Emergency Management to donate the entire load to the Food Bank of the Golden Crescent.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
