COALINGA, CALIFORNIA — CHP Coalinga released dashcam footage over the weekend of a September 9 crash on State Route 33 at Coalinga-Mendota Road in which a white Acura came around a curve too wide, crossed into the opposing lane, and slammed into a truck tractor hauling double gravel trailers — knocking them over.
The video, captured by a vehicle traveling behind the dump truck, shows the Acura drifting wide into oncoming traffic before hitting the side of the double trailer combination. The force of the impact toppled the trailers.
The Acura driver sustained major injuries but they were non-life-threatening and a full recovery is expected. The dump truck driver sustained minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
