TRACY, CALIFORNIA — A semi-truck driver was arrested for DUI after driving off the road and into a field in Tracy, California, and was found to be six times over the legal blood alcohol content limit for commercial drivers, according to California Highway Patrol’s Tracy Division.

CHP

CHP located the semi-truck after it left the roadway and came to rest in a field. When officers contacted the driver, they found a BAC nearly three times the legal limit for a passenger vehicle of 0.08 — and six times over the stricter commercial driver limit of 0.04. No injuries or damage were reported. The driver was arrested without incident and charged with DUI.

CHP used the arrest to remind commercial drivers of the stakes involved. “A fully loaded big rig isn’t just a vehicle — it’s thousands of pounds with the potential for devastating consequences in the wrong hands,” CHP said. “No load, deadline, or excuse is worth driving impaired. Drive sober. Stay alert. Arrive alive.”

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
