FRESNO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — A 30-year-old box truck driver was pinned inside his cab and airlifted to the hospital with severe limb injuries Friday morning after rear-ending a pickup truck towing a trailer carrying a tractor and manure spreader on Highway 180 near Oliver Avenue, just west of Sanger.
CHP received the first call around 6:45 a.m. The pickup and trailer were traveling westbound at approximately 40 to 45 mph when the white box truck struck the trailer from behind at 65 to 70 mph. The impact pinned the box truck and tractor together and trapped the driver inside.
CHP, firefighters, and EMS responded and extricated the driver. He was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center with severe injuries to a limb. The driver of the pickup was not injured. All occupants were wearing seatbelts and alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.
