BOCA RATON, FLORIDA — The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a man who spent more than two years on the run from a felony warrant for three counts of vehicular homicide in a 2024 crash that killed three people, including his own mother. The crash allegedly began when he tried to pass a semi-truck in a no-passing zone.
FHP’s Criminal Alien Apprehension Team arrested Jean S. Dorisca, 48, on October 29 during a targeted enforcement operation. Troopers located him the day before at a residence in Boca Raton, and he was taken into custody without incident. FHP had named him one of its most wanted fugitives.
The Crash
The crash happened July 16, 2024, on State Road 60 near the Polk-Osceola County line. According to FHP, Dorisca “allegedly attempted to pass a semi-truck in a designated no-passing zone and collided with oncoming traffic, resulting in the deaths of three motorists.” One of the people killed was Dorisca’s mother.
Charges and Next Steps
Dorisca was booked into the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center on the outstanding Osceola County warrant and awaits extradition to Osceola County. He faces up to 45 years in prison. He is a Haitian national and lawful permanent resident of the United States, and he could face revocation of that status.
“For more than two years, this fugitive evaded accountability for a crash that claimed the lives of three innocent motorists,” said Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Executive Director Dave Kerner. “This arrest reflects FHP’s unwavering commitment to protecting Florida’s communities by locating and apprehending dangerous fugitives who threaten public safety and attempt to evade justice.”
