ATTICA TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN — A 34-year-old Flint truck driver was killed Tuesday morning, October 27, when his semi veered across the left lane of eastbound Interstate 69 and overturned in the grassy median, throwing large boulders onto both sides of the interstate.
The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office said the crash happened at 9:46 a.m. just east of Lake Pleasant Road. Tyler Zellar was driving in the right lane when the truck suddenly crossed the left lane and rolled over in the median. The cab ended up crushed and upside down. Zellar was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck was hauling large boulders, which were tossed across both the eastbound and westbound lanes during the rollover. The truck also leaked fuel. No other motorists reported injuries or vehicle damage from the scattered rocks.
Both directions of I-69 were temporarily closed for cleanup and investigation. Investigators said impairment was not a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation, and the cause has not been released.
