MERCED, CALIFORNIA — CHP Merced Division partnered with the Chowchilla River Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Facility and Central Division’s Mobile Road Enforcement team on October 8 for a Coordinated Integrated Traffic Enforcement operation targeting commercial vehicles after receiving a wave of community complaints about semis speeding, traveling in improper lanes, and making unsafe lane changes on local highways.

CHP said the complaints from community members directly prompted the operation. “You spoke. We listened. And today, we took action,” the agency said. “We appreciate the community members who have taken the time to report their concerns. Your calls and messages help us identify problem areas and direct enforcement efforts where they’re needed.”

The operation included lieutenants and sergeants from both the Merced Area and Chowchilla River commands working in the field alongside officers. CHP did not release specific numbers on traffic stops, inspections, or citations issued.

“Today’s operation may be over, but our enforcement efforts are not,” CHP said. “Our officers are on the road every day, watching for dangerous driving behaviors involving ALL vehicles. Whether it’s a passenger car, pickup truck, or commercial vehicle, traffic laws apply to everyone.”
