SPARKS, NEVADA — Detectives with the Regional Human Exploitation and Trafficking Unit recovered a missing 14-year-old girl and arrested a 31-year-old semi-truck driver after conducting a traffic stop in Sparks on September 29 following a tip from human trafficking investigators in Riverside, California.

HEAT detectives learned the girl had run away from her group home and might be in the Reno area. Investigators determined she was a confirmed commercially sexually exploited child who had been trafficked by multiple individuals in the past. Through follow-up investigation and surveillance, detectives identified the suspect as a semi-truck driver, located his truck, and conducted a traffic stop near Pyramid Way and Tierra Del Sol Parkway in Sparks. The girl was recovered and HEAT victim advocates provided her with resources and support.

During an interview with detectives, Daniel Isidoro, 31, admitted to having sexual intercourse with the girl. He was arrested on charges of kidnapping in the first degree, statutory sexual seduction, and child abuse by sexual exploitation.

The HEAT Unit is a regional task force comprised of detectives from the Reno Police Department, Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, Sparks Police Department, and Washoe County School Police Department.

Anyone with information related to this case, child sexual exploitation, or sex trafficking is asked to contact the HEAT Unit at RPDHEAT@reno.gov or HEAT-Tips@washoecounty. gov. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Secret Witness by calling or texting 775-322-4900.
