WESTCHESTER/PUTNAM/DUTCHESS/COLUMBIA COUNTIES, NEW YORK — New York State Police issued 376 traffic tickets and conducted 19 commercial vehicle inspections over two days on the Taconic State Parkway in a targeted enforcement operation on September 30 and October 1, uncovering 63 FMCSA violations and placing four drivers and five vehicles out of service.

The bulk of the tickets — 198 — were issued for restricted vehicle types operating on the parkway in violation of Parkway Rules and Regulations. Another 78 were issued for vehicles displaying painted or affixed commercial signs, names, or insignia on the parkway, which is also prohibited. The remaining 100 tickets covered other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.

NYSP reminded drivers that commercial vehicles — including tractor-trailers, vehicles displaying commercial signage, and vehicles towing trailers — are prohibited from operating on New York State parkways. The prohibition covers parkways across the Hudson Valley, New York City, and Long Island, including the Taconic State Parkway, Saw Mill River Parkway, Hutchinson River Parkway, Belt Parkway, Grand Central Parkway, Southern State Parkway, and dozens of others statewide.

This is the second major commercial vehicle enforcement operation NYSP has conducted on the Taconic State Parkway in recent months.
