Man Killed After Car Rear-Ends Tractor-Trailer on I-80 in Austintown; Half His Car Found Under Trailer, Speed Suspected

AUSTINTOWN, OHIO — A 35-year-old Erie, Pennsylvania man was killed early Thursday morning after his car rear-ended a tractor-trailer on westbound Interstate 80 in Austintown, with half of the heavily damaged vehicle ending up beneath the rear portion of the trailer.

Ohio State Highway Patrol and Austintown Fire responded around 3 a.m. to the westbound lanes of I-80 approximately two miles west of the Route 46 interchange. Crews found the car wedged under the trailer and used power tools to extricate the victim. Theodore Sisak was pronounced dead at the scene. Speed is believed to be a factor. The crash remains under investigation.

Assisting agencies included the Austintown Police Department, Austintown Fire and EMS, the Mahoning County Coroner, and ambulance services.
