BOWIE COUNTY, TEXAS — Two commercial truck parking projects totaling more than $20 million are underway along the Interstate 30 corridor in northeast Texas, adding a combined 197 new parking spaces to one of the region’s most traveled freight corridors.
The larger of the two projects will add 175 truck parking spaces in Bowie County west of Texarkana. Construction is expected to begin in October 2026 near County Road 4204, west of Farm to Market Road 990, on both sides of I-30. The project includes the construction of entrance and exit ramps on the eastbound and westbound sides, along with pavement markings, signs, and lighting. East Texas Bridge Inc. was awarded the contract at $10,625,436. Completion is expected in approximately 16 months, around February 2028.
Less than 50 miles away in Titus County, a second project is already underway at the westbound I-30 weigh station west of Mount Pleasant. That project reconstructs the existing weigh station area and extends its entrance and exit ramps, adding approximately 22 commercial truck parking spaces. East Texas Bridge Inc. also holds that contract at $9,498,728. Work began in July 2026 and is expected to take about 15 months, with a westbound lane closure on I-30 expected to remain in place through late 2026.
“Safe truck parking impacts the safety of all motorists. However, finding safe parking is a critical challenge for commercial truck drivers,” said Texarkana Area Engineer Dana Moore.
